Loreto Sea and Land Tours

Loreto Sea and Land Tours offers adventure and nature tourism in Loreto, Mexico. I was hired as a consultant to help refine their content strategy and assess marketing options suited to their budget and time. Since the owners run several tourism businesses, we created shared marketing goals to support them all. The main focus is community building and client retention, especially in the off-season, to support year-round tourism.

Audited Current Marketing

An audit of  their current marketing revealed a strong foundation with key areas needing improvement to maximize impact:

  • Website lacks tools like Google Analytics and heat mapping, limiting insight into user behavior.

  • Google Business Profiles have a low review count compared to competitors, reducing local search performance.

  • Social media is present but inconsistent and lacks strategic direction.

  • Based on cost per click and industry standard conversion rates, the Google Ads budget is too low to drive significant results.

Improving these areas would strengthen reach, engagement, and conversion.

Market Research

Market research uncovered key opportunities for them to improve visibility and competitiveness:

  • Social media offers strong potential, especially for visual content on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.

  • High-quality video and photography are essential in the tourism industry. 

  • Competitors rank higher online due to better SEO, more Google reviews, and larger ad budgets.

  • Travelers often search for specific experiences (e.g., whale watching, island tours, diving) using keywords underused on the current site.

  • Spanish-language visibility is limited, reducing reach to a major market segment.

To stay competitive, the brand needs a stronger digital presence, more Google reviews, and clearer keyword targeting.

  • Target the adventure and nature tourism market to attract a specific demographic.

  • Build a brand and community that connects customers to something larger than tourism, to nature. And helps them connect with the family who runs the company.

  • Refine SEO and use organic and paid media to drive growth across the full marketing funnel.

  • Create a personal, family-operated feel through storytelling and behind-the-scenes content.

  • Differentiate from competitors by clearly communicating that all services are handled in-house, not outsourced.

This approach ensures we attract the right customers, foster lasting relationships, and build a resilient brand that stands out in a competitive market.

I fell in love with diving in the Sea of Cortez, whale watching, seeing dolphins daily, and the rich culture and history of Mexico.
